The reporter learned from the China Meteorological Department on the 19th that four cold air waves will affect northern China from that day to the end of September. Affected by the first wave of cold air, the local temperature in the north will drop to nearly 20℃.

At 14:00 on the 19th, due to the combined influence of cold air and rainy weather, northern Qinghai, central Gansu, western and eastern Inner Mongolia, and northwest Heilongjiang experienced severe cooling. The temperature generally dropped by 6 to 12°C compared with the same time on the 18th, and the local drop exceeded 15°C. Among the national meteorological stations, the temperature drop was the most severe in Aihui, Heilongjiang, with a drop of up to 19.4°C.

The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that rainfall and cooling will continue in the north on the 20th. The southeastern part of Inner Mongolia and most of the northeast will be the areas with the most severe cooling, with the maximum temperature dropping by 6 to 10°C. It will rain frequently in eastern Gansu, Shaanxi, Ningxia, and Qinghai, and the temperature will continue to be low.

After the cooling, the temperature in many places in the northwest and northeast will temporarily drop to low levels, with the highest temperature around 20°C, and in some areas only around 15°C.

Meteorological experts predict that in late September, there will be many fluctuations in the upper-altitude trough, and the cold air will become more active, but it will not move southward in a large scale. The overall impact will be northerly, and the heat in the south will continue.

In terms of precipitation, in the next 10 days, the key precipitation areas across the country will be concentrated in West China and surrounding areas, and the local cumulative precipitation will be more than double that of the same period in normal years.
