Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 5th: The Norwegian government announced on the 5th that it plans to temporarily ban the use of artificial intelligence (AI) glasses equipped with cameras in specific places to protect people’s privacy and prevent them from being filmed without their knowledge.
According to a statement released by the Norwegian Ministry of Digitalization and Public Governance on its official website, this temporary ban may apply to public gathering places such as parks, beaches, and shopping malls, and may also cover children’s activity venues such as schools and playgrounds. In addition, the ban may also apply to places where privacy is important, such as medical institutions and gyms with locker rooms and shower facilities. However, the statement said that it is not currently considering banning AI glasses altogether, and they can still be used in places where the risk of privacy leakage is low.
