On March 26, the table tennis mixed doubles event of the 2026 Aichi Nagoya Asian Games ushered in the finals, and the two Chinese teams met. In the end, the “animation combination” Lin Shidong/Kui Man defeated Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha 4-0 and won the gold medal.
As the champions of the table tennis mixed doubles events at the Jakarta and Hangzhou Asian Games, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha defeated their rivals Matsushima Teruukora/Harimoto Miwa 3-0 in the quarter-finals; then they swept the Indian combination Shah/Chitale 4-0 in the semi-finals and entered the final without losing a game. Lin Shidong/Kui Man performed equally well in this Asian Games. They defeated the Paris Olympic third-place combination Lin Zhongxun/Shen Yubin in the semi-finals, and met the “Shatou combination” in the final.
In the first game, the “Shatou combination” took the lead in the opening stage. Lin Shidong/Kuiman took the lead to 8-7. After the two sides battled to 9-9, Lin Shidong/Kuiman won two points in a row and went to the next game 11-9.
In the second game, the two Chinese teams played very fiercely, with many long shots and see-saw duels. When the battle was tied at 8-8, the “Shatou combination” suddenly made an effort to score two points in a row to get the game point, but the “Animation combination” did not give up, and also tied the score through two stalemates. In terms of key points, Lin Shidong/Kuiman handled it better, and finally reversed and won the game 13-11, further expanding their lead.
In the third game, the “Shatou combination” took a 7-4 lead. When Lin Shidong/Kuiman chased to 6-7, the “Shatou combination” called a timeout. After the timeout, the “Anime Combination” still continued their good touch in this game. Both of them performed well and tied the score at 9-9 at the end of the game. Luck was also on the side of the “animation combination” at the critical moment. When they were leading 10-9, a side kick caught the “Shatou combination” off guard. Lin Shidong/Kui Man won another game, and Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha were already standing on the edge of the cliff.
In a last-ditch situation, the “Shatou Combination” burst out with strong fighting power in the fourth game and took a 7-1 lead. However, the “Animation Combination”, who felt hot in this game, tied the score at 9-9 at the end of the game. In the end, Lin Shidong/Kuiman scored two more points and won the fourth game with a score of 11-9, thus winning the game 4-0.
