Huang Renxun discussed hot topics such as AI (artificial intelligence) security, the Chinese market and data center construction disputes again.

In a 45-minute latest interview broadcast by CBS News on September 20, local time, Jensen Huang, CEO of AI chip leader Nvidia, once again emphasized that the panic that AI may cause human extinction is exaggerated. The AI ​​industry is going through a transition stage “from scientific research laboratories to product production and services.” He opposed the blind increase of new regulations on AI.

Regarding the “AI doomsday theory”, Huang Renxun bluntly stated that by 2030, the possibility of AI leading to the end of the world is “0%”: “That is completely false. This narrative is too dramatic and is just to gain attention… Frankly speaking, creating this kind of drama is unnecessary and irresponsible.”

Regarding the discussion on AI regulation, Huang Renxun also believes that there is no need to add any provisions: “Before coming up with new laws and regulatory measures, let us put the existing laws and regulations in place.”

Huang Renxun also sharply pointed out that some AI laboratories actively request supervision for other reasons: “They are not actually asking for more legal supervision, but are asking to be exempted from our existing legal constraints.” He emphasized that these AI laboratories should focus on solving their own network security problems rather than evading existing product responsibilities.

Recently, Jen-Hsun Huang has continued to actively speak out on AI safety issues, firmly opposing the “AI slowdown” initiative led by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.

At the same time, Huang Renxun insisted on global market competition in this interview and opposed proposals to completely restrict or abandon the international market. He emphasized that the essence of American technology is “competition.” On the premise of ensuring national security, it should actively participate in global market competition and should not actively cede market share.

Talking about the technological competition between China and the United States, Huang Renxun said: “We should develop as fast as possible, but never faster than we should.”

In addition, in the face of protests from the American public about the water and power consumption of data centers, Huang Jenxun explained that new data centers use thermal circulating water for cooling, and are also promoting the development of sustainable energy sources such as nuclear energy and solar energy: “It is a misunderstanding that data centers consume large amounts of water… They use even less water than swimming pools evaporate in a year.
