This year marks the 95th anniversary of the September 18th Incident.

On the night of September 18, 1931, the Japanese army blew up a section of the South Manchuria Railway near Liutiao Lake in the northern suburbs of Shenyang, falsely accusing the Chinese army of doing so, and quickly attacked Beidaying, the headquarters of the Northeastern Army, and bombarded Shenyang City, creating the September 18th Incident that shocked China and the world. This was the beginning of the Japanese militarism’s war of aggression against China, and also the prelude to the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The flames of war started in the Northeast, and the gunshots of resistance echoed across the country. At this critical moment when the nation was in danger, countless Chinese people defended the mountains and rivers with their flesh and blood and resisted aggression with their unyielding will. After fourteen years of bloody fighting, the Chinese people finally won the great victory of the Anti-Japanese War and made a major contribution to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War.

Time is enough for the smoke to dissipate, but it cannot make history fade. Countless martyrs have explained with their lives what the righteousness of the family and country is, and have proved with their blood that a nation will never give up its pursuit of dignity and light even in its darkest moments. The spiritual legacy they left has long transcended that war-torn era and has become an indelible part of the national memory.

In the Shenyang “September 18th” History Museum, the remaining calendar monument still freezes that day, warning future generations to remember history. Only by remembering the war and chaos can we better understand the beauty of family and country reunion; only by remembering the sacrifices of our ancestors can we better understand the heavy responsibility on our shoulders.

Today, the mountains and rivers that were once shrouded in artillery fire have taken on a completely new look. China, which was once poor and weak and allowed to be bullied by others, is moving towards national rejuvenation with a more determined pace. The strength of a moment depends on strength, and the victory or defeat of a thousand years depends on reason. Justice, light, and progress will surely defeat evil, darkness, and reaction.

The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable! The noble cause of peace and development of mankind will surely win!
