UAE refuses permission for Israel to send flights to pick up people in Dubai

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 2: El Al announced on the 2nd that two of its flights originally scheduled to fly to Dubai to pick up stranded Israeli passengers had been canceled due to failure to obtain landing permission from the United Arab Emirates.

On September 30, a cockpit conflict occurred on an Emirates flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv during the flight. Subsequently, flydubai announced that it would suspend all flights to and from Israel pending an investigation into the incident. According to Israeli media reports, more than 10,000 Israeli tourists were stranded in Dubai and other places due to this incident.

El Al announced on the evening of the 1st that it would operate these two flights on the 2nd. According to the original plan, the flight flew from Tel Aviv to Dubai on the 2nd and was scheduled to return from Dubai at 11:00 and 13:00 local time.

After canceling the flight, El Al issued a notice on its website on the 2nd, saying that once it receives approval from relevant UAE authorities, it will fly these flights as soon as possible to bring stranded passengers back to Israel. According to Israeli TV channel 12, senior Israeli officials have been negotiating with Emirati officials for a long time, but they were unable to reach an agreement on the landing of Israeli flights in the UAE. The report did not explain the reason for the UAE’s refusal.
