Yesterday, the ancient town of Lijiang in Yunnan carried out the traditional operation of flooding the streets with water to welcome the National Day with a clean, festive and warm new look.
In the early morning, the ancient city of Lijiang is filled with gurgling water. The staff used the natural water circulation system of the ancient city to start releasing water to flush the streets. The clear water flows slowly along the bluestone streets and alleys, washing away dust and debris on the road surface, cleaning the thousand-year-old streets and giving them a brand new look. Flooding the streets and using natural running water to clean the streets is not only environmentally friendly, but also cools down and removes dust, making the ancient city more fresh and elegant.
Clear water washes the streets, and autumn chrysanthemums add color. Focusing on the “double festivals” of Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, Lijiang Old Town combined the water system, stone roads and Naxi residential styles to arrange more than 10 themed landscapes and display more than 400 chrysanthemum varieties. The bluestone road, small bridges and flowing water complement the colorful autumn chrysanthemums, attracting citizens and tourists to stop and check in.

The bright “Chinese Red” complements the simple Naxi architecture, gurgling water and autumn chrysanthemums all over the city. Citizens and tourists coming and going took photos under the national flag, expressing their best wishes for the motherland in the strong National Day atmosphere.
