The Zhangjiakou Grassland Sky Road in Hebei Province is known as one of the “most beautiful roads in China”. Shaya County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang has the world’s largest original Populus euphratica forest. There is a unique Populus euphratica landscape avenue in the country. The best viewing period is expected to be from mid-October to early November. By driving there, you can immerse yourself in the vigor and beauty of the desert Populus euphratica.

Autumn is the harvest season, and gold is also a symbol of harvest. At present, the rice in Yuanyang Hani terraces in Honghe, Yunnan is gradually maturing. From the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, the rice waves are rolling, and the layers of terraces are like golden tapestry. The best viewing period will last until early October. You can drive along the mountain-ring road to enjoy the autumn colors of the terraced fields, and you can also stop at the observation deck to take photos and check in. It should be noted that vehicles are not allowed to enter the core area of the terraces. You can transfer to a sightseeing car or enter on foot to experience this golden harvest picture up close.

The Benhuan Highway in Benxi, Liaoning Province is known as the “Chinese Maple Leaf Road”. The approximately 30-kilometer section between the Xinkailing Tunnel and the Dawoling Tunnel is the highlight. There are many viewing platforms along the way. You may wish to drive out from late September to early October this year to capture the scene of the red leaves intertwining with the mountains and streams.

Colorful autumn scenery: red, orange, yellow and green
The autumn colors in the mountains look like oil paintings
In addition to gold and red, layers of red, orange, yellow and green are intertwined and collide with each other, which is the richest expression of autumn. Baili Landscape Gallery, located in Yanqing District, Beijing, is a classic route for self-driving in the suburbs of Beijing to enjoy autumn. The Yanqing section of Luanchi Road is the main route, and the scenery along the way is beautiful. From early October to early November this year, the forest here will be dyed, just like a rich and colorful painting. The average altitude of Taiziling in Liuba County, Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province is over 1,500 meters. Due to its low temperature, it is the “pioneer” of autumn colors in the Qinling Mountains. From mid-October to mid-November this year, you might as well drive along the Qinling Landscape Avenue to the observation deck at the highest point of Taiziling to overlook the magnificent scenery of the colorful mountains.

Due to the huge altitude difference, Shennongjia, Hubei Province, makes the autumn colors flow from high to low like a tide. It is an excellent place to enjoy autumn in Central China. Among them, Tianyan Scenic Area is in the best viewing period. Walk slowly along the winding mountain road and watch the colorful forests flashing alternately outside the car window. The Anhui-Zhetian Road in Jixi, Anhui passes through the mountains with 351 turns, with a maximum altitude of more than 1,000 meters. From late October to mid-November this year, it will be a good time to enjoy the autumn by car. The mountains and forests along the way change colors successively, with golden, light yellow, and orange-red intertwining. During the drive, every turn contains autumn surprises. Deep in the Siming Mountains in Yuyao, Zhejiang, a winding mountain road winds like a ribbon between the peaks. As the altitude gradually increases, the autumn atmosphere becomes more intense, and the colorful mountain scenery slowly unfolds before your eyes. From November to early December this year, this place will usher in the best viewing period for autumn scenery.
