According to Xinhua News Agency: The Thailand Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department released a report on the 28th saying that since the 16th, floods across Thailand have killed 8 people and affected more than 40 provinces and 1.8 million people.
The Thailand Meteorological Administration predicts that there will still be locally heavy to heavy rains in northern, central and eastern Thailand on the 28th. According to Thai media reports, flood levels are expected to continue to rise in places such as Chanthaburi and Rayong in the east due to continued rainfall and many upstream reservoirs being full.
The Thailand Meteorological Administration said on the 28th that rainfall in Bangkok and surrounding areas has reduced. Bangkok Mayor Chacha Sidivan said in an interview that the water accumulation situation in the city’s city center has improved, but there is still a large area of water accumulation in the outer areas, and it may take two to three weeks to be completely drained. He said there were no reports of deaths caused by flooding in Bangkok.
The Thai Cabinet declared the 28th and 29th as public holidays in Bangkok and the three surrounding provinces. Government agencies and schools were suspended to reduce the inconvenience caused by the floods to the public.
