On September 25, in the women’s 100-meter track and field final of the Nagoya Asian Games, Chinese teenager Chen Yujie broke the competition record in 11.06 seconds and won the gold medal. At the age of 17, she also became the youngest women’s 100-meter champion in the history of the National Games.
Pereira of Singapore won the runner-up, and Odion of Bahrain won the third runner-up.

Chen Yujie was born on December 29, 2008 in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. She currently plays for the Chinese national track and field team. Her main event is sprinting. She studied at Ningbo Xiaoshi Middle School. In this Asian Games, she will also compete in the women’s 200m, 4x100m relay, and if her physical fitness permits, she will also participate in the mixed 4x100m relay.
