As of the close, the S&P 500 index rose 0.51% to 7743.41 points; the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.48% to 27068.72 points; the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.93% to 51828.62 points.
Judging from the performance of popular stocks, Microsoft rose more than 3%, setting a new closing high since November last year. Apple closed up 1.53% on Friday, hitting a record closing high. Although there was no clear independent positive news on Friday, according to the schedule, the next wave of new product releases from the consumer electronics giant will arrive in a few weeks.
NVIDIA rose 0.22%, Google-A rose 0.46%, Amazon rose 0.12%, TSMC fell 0.12%, SpaceX rose 0.44%, Meta fell 3.33%, Broadcom rose 0.7%, Tesla fell 1.54%, Eli Lilly rose 0.13%, and Berkshire Hathaway-A fell 0.09%.
The high-speed interconnection industry chain performed well, with MaxLinear rising by 10%, Viavia Communications rising by 9.27%, Credo rising by 7.65%, and Tower Semiconductor rising by 6.07%, covering chip design, connection products, silicon photonics foundry and network testing.
In addition to the optical communications and high-speed interconnection industry chains, the overall performance of the semiconductor sector is also very strong.
Memory chip stocks generally rose, with Qualcomm up about 4%, SK Hynix up more than 2%, Western Digital, Seagate Technology, and SanDisk up more than 1%, and Micron Technology up 0.16%. Bloom Energy Corp. rose more than 8%, hitting a new closing high since June. Zscaler Inc. fell more than 10%, its largest single-day decline since May 27. The company appointed Ross Tackett as CRO. Gen Digital Inc. fell more than 6% and fell more than 25% this week, marking its worst weekly performance in the past six years.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closed up 1.41% on Friday, rising 6.27% this week and achieving “four consecutive weekly gains”, setting a record for the longest weekly rise since May. In addition to Tower Semiconductor and Credo, power semiconductor concept stocks ON Semiconductor closed up 5.54% on Friday, Microchip Technology rose 5.36%, low-power FPGA concept stocks Lattice Semiconductor rose 4.77%, GlobalFoundries rose 4.14%, Qualcomm rose 3.97%, and NXP rose 3.44%.
Meta closed down 3.33% on Friday as the star intelligence Muse was exposed to encounter “computing bottlenecks”, service degradation, task failures, etc., but the cumulative increase this week still reached 12.99%.
The Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index closed down 0.64% on Friday and fell 1.72% this week.
As of the close, Alibaba fell 0.8%, Pinduoduo fell 0.81%, NetEase fell 1.83%, JD.com fell 0.9%, Baidu fell 0.85%, Ctrip fell 1.52%, Li Auto fell 2.38%, Futu Holdings rose 2.38%, Bilibili rose 0.57%, and Weilai fell 1.38%.
All three major U.S. stock indexes closed higher for the week. Among them, the S&P 500 Index rose by 1.21% this week; thanks to the strong performance of technology stocks such as Meta, the Nasdaq Index, which hit a new high this week, rose by 2.06%; the Dow Jones Index, which was more affected by the U.S. debt crisis, also closed up 0.28%.
U.S. bond yields fell after rising during the day, with the short-term decline greater than the long-term decline. The two-year U.S. Treasury yield, which is more closely related to the Fed’s policy, fell by about 7 basis points to 4.86%, the 10-year yield fell by about 4 basis points to 5.17%, and the 30-year yield continued to hit a new high since 2004, and is still fluctuating around 5.5%.
