Zhang Yufei successfully defended her title with a time of 25.41 seconds. Another Chinese player, Wu Qingfeng, won the silver medal. Japanese player Rikako Chie, who defeated leukemia and returned to the competition, won the bronze medal. At the award ceremony, 28-year-old Zhang Yufei was moved to tears.
Chinese player Qin Haiyang successfully defended his men’s 50m breaststroke gold medal, while another Chinese player Liu Junjie won the silver medal. Li Bingjie successfully defended her title in the women’s 800-meter freestyle and won her fifth gold medal of the tournament. In the men’s 200-meter backstroke final, Xu Jiayu missed his third consecutive championship and won the bronze medal. In the finale of the women’s 4x100m medley relay, the Chinese team composed of Peng Xuwei, Tang Qianting, Zhang Yufei and Yu Yiting regained the championship in this event after 16 years.
