Jing Yidan’s memorial service turned into a farce! The disgusting operations continue one after another, and the absence of the foreign son-in-law is just the appetizer!

After reviewing the public opinion on the Internet after Jing Yidan’s death, two words are most appropriate: absurd.

At 5 a.m. on September 13, CCTV host Jing Yidan, who had accompanied generations of Chinese people, passed away in Beijing due to acute cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 71.

From the onset of the disease in Harbin in June to the end, it lasted for three months.

As soon as the news came out, the screen was full of sincere regrets.

Everyone thought that for such a senior who had been magnanimous and kind all his life, his final farewell would only be solemn.

But no one expected that in just a few days, a solemn farewell would suddenly turn into a traffic farce that was consuming the whole network.

The absence of the foreign son-in-law was just the first appetizer.

On that day at Babaoshan, the quietest and the noisiest

In the early morning of September 17, before dawn, there was already a long queue outside the Babao Shandong Auditorium.

The family members deliberately did not disclose the time and place, and the fence was pulled low. Zhu Jun, Zhu Xun, Nigmaiti, Scarab, Shui Junyi, Han Qiaosheng, and several generations of CCTV people stood quietly, holding white chrysanthemums in their hands.

The horizontal line of the elegiac couplet in the mourning hall is not the “immortality” written on the street, but the sentence written by Jing Yidan himself during his lifetime – “Thank you for letting me walk through this world.”

But it was such a quiet and almost restrained farewell. As soon as the ceremony ended, the atmosphere on the Internet changed.

Ni Ping didn’t come. That day she was recording a program in Altay, Xinjiang, 3,000 kilometers away. She posted a long post in the early morning saying, “I’m sorry, we are separated by mountains and seas. After all, I can’t rush back to see you off on your last journey.”

These words were sincere enough, but some people quit.

He started to say that Ni Ping “can’t even take a day off”, and dug out photos of the two of them on the same stage in their early years and analyzed them frame by frame, trying to read some “plastic sisterhood” from their expressions.

Absence is equal to disagreement, and presence is equal to show. No matter how you do it, you can cut out a hundred thousand plus.

But what happened to Ni Ping was not the most outrageous thing that day.

Before the ceremony was over, someone had already started a live broadcast on a certain short video platform. The camera was pointed at the entrance of Babaoshan, and the comments in the barrage were “Anchor, come closer” and “Look who is coming.”

What’s even more disgusting is that someone photoshopped Jing Yidan’s posthumous photo into a video cover, paired it with a tear-jerking BGM, and hung a small yellow cart in the lower left corner selling “cardio-cerebrovascular health products for middle-aged and elderly people.”

The foreign son-in-law was “absent” and the entire network was interrogated for three days

If the noise outside the court is noise, then the absence of the foreign son-in-law is a national trial.

After the ceremony, someone looked through all the live photos online and found that the Scottish son-in-law Nick didn’t appear in any of them.

This is not bad, all kinds of speculations exploded instantly.

Some people say that the foreign son-in-law didn’t even come to his mother-in-law’s funeral and that he doesn’t take his Chinese family seriously; some people say that transnational marriages are really unreliable and they haven’t even had a child after fifteen years of marriage.

What’s more, they directly raised the topic to “worshiping foreigners and favoring foreigners” and “raising a daughter in vain”, and each word was more unpleasant than the last.

But the more vigorously these people guess, the farther away they are from the truth.

Nick is from Scotland and met Wang Erqing when he was a student at Imperial College.

For this marriage, he gave up his position as a senior engineer in a London insurance company, gave up his thirty-year circle of friends and all relatives, and came to Beijing alone without speaking fluent Chinese.

During the three months when Jing Yidan was seriously ill, he and Wang Erqing took turns guarding the door of the ICU, feces and urine, which was better than many biological sons.

But the problem is that no one wants to check these facts.

So why is he not in the photo? The answer is ridiculously simple.

The farewell ceremony was carried out in compliance with the wishes of the family, and no photography was allowed at the scene. Nick was always doing chores behind the scenes and did not stand in front of the camera at all.

In fact, judging whether a person is filial or not is never based on where he stands at the funeral, but how many nights he stays in front of the old man’s bed.

But on the Internet, the logic is completely reversed. Not being on camera means not being present, which means being unfilial. This reasoning does not even require half a dime of evidence.

There is another detail that is easily overlooked. Wang Erqing is 40 years old this year. She has not had children for fifteen years and has been doing charity work in rural education.

Jing Yidan did want to be a grandmother before her death, and she urged her to do so, but she respected her daughter’s choice and never said a harsh word.

As a result, as soon as her mother left, there were people on the Internet who expressed “grievances” on behalf of Jing Yidan, saying that Wang Erqing “let her mother leave with regrets”, and regarded Dink’s choice as a bullseye.

What happened to the mother and daughter was not the turn of a group of netizens who had never met in person to judge the living for the dead through the screen.

Two months ago, she had already “died” once

But these chaos had been previewed two months ago.

At 10:09 pm on July 23, Ucommune founder Mao Daqing posted a message on Weibo with six words – “Sister Yidan, go well”, followed by a candle emoticon, which was accurately positioned and hung in the CCTV headquarters building.

In less than an hour, “Jing Yidan passed away” topped the list of hot searches, with a peak discussion volume of 40,000 per minute.

The self-media smelled like blood. Some people made up the plot about “fainting suddenly during the recording of the show”, and some wrote “relying on a ventilator to maintain life”, making it sound like he had been in the ICU for three days and three nights.

97 minutes later, Mao Daqing deleted Weibo and reposted “I hope it is fake news.” The whole network was confused.

It was later learned that Mao Daqing learned that Jing Yidan had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in June and had been hospitalized in Beijing, so he “guessed” that she was dying and sent condolences in advance.

Jing Yidan’s public account had just posted an original essay about his reflections on the Great Summer the night before. The words were written calmly, and the backstage reply to readers’ inquiries contained only four words—everything is fine.

What kind of absurdity is it for a person who was pronounced dead two months in advance to lie in a hospital bed and watch the whole Internet organize his funeral without even bothering to refute the rumors loudly.

But the problem is that Mao Daqing deleted the post and apologized, and that was it, and no one paid any price for it.

The response from the family members was even more disappointing.

There was no lawyer’s letter, no essay, just a comment quietly pinned to the top of the public account: Don’t believe rumors, don’t spread rumors. Just these six words.

Those self-media that followed the trend and spread rumors deleted their articles and continued to pursue the next hot topic.

When the obituary announcement on September 13 came out, these people immediately put on sad faces, as if what happened two months ago had never happened.

Rumors can be deleted and the traffic has been earned; an apology can be issued and the number of fans has increased. The dignity of the deceased is worthless in front of the traffic algorithm.

結語

Jing Yidan left, leaving behind the words “Thank you to this world for letting me pass through”. But the last farewell the world gave her was really not worthy of her dignity.

The absence of the foreign son-in-law was fake, Ni Ping’s indifference was made up, and the death notice two months ago was a complete mistake.

What is it really like? He is a person who told the truth all his life, but was surrounded by lies after he left. He is a person who taught people all over the country to “speak with facts”, but after his death, he was consumed by the whole network with lies.

This is the most ironic footnote in the death of Jing Yidan.
