挪威政府It was announced on the 5th that it plans to temporarily ban the use of artificial intelligence (AI) glasses equipped with cameras in specific places to protect people’s privacy and prevent them from being filmed without their knowledge.
According to a statement released by the Norwegian Ministry of Digitalization and Public Governance on its official website, this temporary ban may apply to public gathering places such as parks, beaches, and shopping malls, and may also cover children’s activity venues such as schools and playgrounds.
In addition, the ban may also apply to places where privacy is important, such as medical institutions and gyms with locker rooms and shower facilities.
However, the statement said that it is not currently considering banning AI glasses altogether, and they can still be used in places where the risk of privacy leakage is low.

According to the statement, the Norwegian government will submit a proposal to parliament as soon as possible on a temporary ban on the use of AI glasses, including smart technology categories to which the ban will apply.
Norway’s Minister of Digitalization and Public Governance Torgael Mikaelson said that with the application of new technologies such as AI glasses, people are more likely to be photographed, videotaped or recorded without their knowledge. Therefore, a temporary ban on AI glasses is drafted to give the government time to formulate long-term regulatory measures.
