The main reason for the change in the world rankings in this issue is that the points for the 2025 World Table Tennis Professional League (WTT) China Grand Slam expire. As the defending champion Wang Manyu, 2,000 world ranking points have expired, and last year’s runner-up Sun Yingsha has 1,400 world ranking points expired.

Under the current world ranking system, an athlete’s world ranking points are composed of the sum of the eight highest points obtained in the past 12 months. Sun Yingsha’s current world ranking points are 7575 points and Wang Manyu’s 7565 points. Both will participate in the 2026 WTT China Grand Slam, and the results of the event will have an impact on the world rankings.

The athletes ranked third to tenth in women’s singles are Zhang Benmeiwa (Japan), Kuaiman (China), Wang Yidi (China), Hina Hayata (Japan), Chen Xingtong (China), Winter (Germany), Zhu Yuling (Macau, China), and Chen Yi (China).

In men’s singles, Japanese player Matsushima Terukong ranks first in the world, with French player Felix Le Brun and Japanese player Tomokazu Harimoto ranking second and third respectively.

Wang Chuqin, the national table tennis player who aspired to win the WTT China Grand Slam last year, lost 2,000 world ranking points and dropped to fourth place. The athletes ranked fifth to tenth are Moregard (Sweden), Lin Yunru (Chinese Taipei), Hugo Calderano (Brazil), Alex Le Brun (France), Lin Shidong (China), and Qiu Dang (Germany).
