The 20th Asian Games concluded in Nagoya, Japan

At the closing ceremony of the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games, the Chinese delegation entered the venue.

Xinhua News Agency: On the evening of the 4th, the 20th Asian Games concluded at the Mizuho Park Track and Field Stadium in Nagoya, Japan. The Chinese sports delegation topped the Asian Games gold medal list for 12 consecutive years with 169 gold medals, 89 silver medals and 83 bronze medals. The number of gold medals reached a new high in overseas competitions.

The closing ceremony took “One Asia” as its theme and continued the heart-shaped visual effect of the opening ceremony. Through traditional Japanese music, dance and video images, it showed the style of the Asian Games in and outside the stadium for more than half a month. Despite the chaotic organization of the event and frequent unexpected situations, the athletes jointly presented a wonderful and outstanding Asian sports event.

This Asian Games has delegations from 45 countries and regions and the Olympic Council of Asia refugee team participating. Among them, 28 delegations won gold medals and 40 delegations won medals. 20-year-old Thai sprinter Wen Song and 13-year-old Chinese swimmer Yu Zidi were elected as the most valuable athletes of the Asian Games men’s and women’s respectively.

The Chinese sports delegation sent 815 athletes, winning gold medals in 29 major events and 38 sub-items, and winning medals in 36 major events and 47 sub-items, breaking 8 world records in total. Among them, 19-year-old Zhang Zhanshuo won 7 swimming gold medals, tying the single-single gold medal record in Asian Games history.

After the athletes entered the venue during the closing ceremony, video highlights were played live to condense the highlights of the event. By the swimming pool, Chinese player Zhang Yufei and Japanese player Rikako Chie held hands and cried again because they knew that it was not easy for each other to stick to each other; on the track and field, Chinese team Manqi was injured and fell to the ground, and Macao player Lu Yanlan of China immediately stepped forward to take care of them… The friendship, understanding and respect established by athletes in competition show the value of sports beyond victory or defeat.

“Whether you stand on the podium or not, the most important thing is the fun of competition, the bond of friendship and the pursuit of excellence.” Prince Jiao An, chairman of the Olympic Council of Asia, announced the closure of this Asian Games and invited young Asians to gather again.

As the Olympic Council of Asia’s anthem was played, the flag was slowly lowered. At the subsequent handover ceremony, the torch and flag of the first Asian Games in 1951, as well as the current Olympic Council of Asia flag, were handed over to representatives of Doha, Qatar, where the next event will be held.
