Xinhua Perspective丨New industries break ground and develop, and old technologies take on new life

■Withstand 120 decibels, act as an “examiner” for drones

“The wind speed is 10 meters per second, everything is stable!” At the test field of China Merchants Vehicle Testing Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CMV) in Chongqing High-tech Zone, Niu Chengyong and his team members were braving the wind and rain to test a hoisted drone.

Niu Chengyong leads a team that is mostly born in the 1990s and 2000s. They work as “examiners” for drones all year round in extreme environments such as wind, rain, extreme cold, and strong interference. During the wind resistance test, the wind noise of the drone can reach as high as 120 decibels, which is equivalent to standing near a jet aircraft.

As a practitioner in the eighth batch of new job types “low-altitude intelligent network system administrators”, Niu Chengyong feels that as the track heats up, industry thresholds and safety standards are also increasing. “The more the industry develops, the more professionals who are deeply involved in testing, proficient in technology, and strictly abide by standards are needed. I am confident in the development of the low-altitude industry,” he said.

■From “calling cards” to “drawing cards”

The person in front of me who was repeatedly debugging prompt words on the computer was named Xu Yueying. Previously, she worked as an executive director on the crew for many years. Now, she has a new identity – a card draw artist. From “calling out cards” on the set to “drawing cards” in front of the computer, with just one word, the working methods and content have completely changed.

Card drawing artist is a new position in the field of AI content creation. The job is to repeatedly debug prompt words, use AI to generate pictures over and over again, and screen high-quality content until a satisfactory picture is selected. With the rapid development of AI short dramas, from real-life shooting to AI generation, the content production model has ushered in new changes.

According to statistics, in the first eight months of this year, a total of 430,000 micro-short dramas were launched nationwide, 13 times that of last year, of which AI dramas accounted for more than 90%. In Zhengzhou, there are currently nearly 40,000 people working in micro-short dramas, of which 70% are young people under the age of 30.

On top of the trend, new employment spaces are opening up. In 2025, “generative artificial intelligence animator” will be included in a new job category of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and card drawing artist is a subdivided position under this job category. Regarding the future development of her career, Xu Yueying said that she is very confident.

■Thousand-year-old craftsmanship is a bit fragrant

Zhao Zhe, a “post-90s” incense maker, grew up smelling medicinal aromas. Under the influence of his father, Zhao Qiushi, he gradually fell in love with this family craft. After graduating from college, Zhao Zhe worked in other jobs, but his love for incense making finally made him choose to make a living from it.

He created flavors such as coffee and osmanthus based on the preferences of young users, and also used short videos to let more people understand the story behind the fragrance.

In September this year, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other departments released 11 new occupations, and fragrance makers were among them. The millennium-old method of making incense now has a nationally recognized professional identity and will move towards a more standardized and professional development path.

■She recreates the elegance of the Han and Tang Dynasties with makeup: not only craftsmanship, but also inheritance

In Xi’an, cultural tourism is the city’s business card and a fertile ground for employment. In a Hanfu shop next to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area, makeup artist Zhang Na is introducing Hanfu to customers and helping them choose their favorite Tang-style outfits.

Zhang Na changed her career from wedding celebrations and opened this Hanfu shop after participating in the “Chang’an Han and Tang Makeup Maker” labor service brand free training organized by the human resources and social security department. According to information released by the Xi’an Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, the brand has trained more than 6,000 independent entrepreneurs and created more than 50,000 jobs in upstream and downstream industries.

In recent years, the Hanfu makeup industry has entered a period of intensive cultivation from a blowout period, with more and more market practitioners and higher and higher customer requirements. Although the competition is fierce, Zhang Na has always persisted. What supports her is not just business, but also recognition from customers and a responsibility to inherit culture.
