In 2026, people will obviously “play farther and farther away”, and long-term travel is heating up. Where did everyone go this holiday?

China Mobile Wutong data analysis predicts that the ultra-long holiday will drive long-distance travel. Domestically, the number of tourists traveling more than 1,000 kilometers is expected to increase by 9% year-on-year, and the number of tourists from long-term travel destinations such as Sichuan, Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Inner Mongolia is expected to increase by more than 12% year-on-year. On social platforms, discussions on related topics such as “National Day travel”, “long-term travel” and “autumn travel” increased by 38% compared with the previous week.
Li Guanzhou, deputy general manager of the Data Delivery Center of China Mobile’s Digital Intelligence Division, said that major online booking platforms have reached peak usage before the holiday. Based on the analysis of national mobile app usage, it was found that the average daily active users of performance ticketing, transportation ticketing, and tourism increased by 29%, 25%, and 32% compared with normal days.

Big data also analyzed offline consumption during the National Day holiday. It is expected that the passenger flow in key business districts across the country will increase by 4% compared with the same period in 2025, and the number of payments on online platforms is expected to increase by 8% year-on-year. Analyzing the passenger flow trend in key commercial districts on an hourly basis, we found that 18:00-20:00 is the peak period of passenger flow in each commercial district. During the holidays, the number of shopping crowds after 18:00 in key business districts is expected to increase by 16% compared with the same period in 2025. Among them, people under the age of 40 are the main consumers, and the business districts in Guangdong, Shanghai, Hunan, and Chongqing are highly active.
Mobile big data predicts travel consumption during the National Day holiday
Where to go during the National Day holiday? The communication big data platform focuses on travel consumption hot spots through large models, and combines AI agents to conduct analysis and prediction.
Big data such as mobile phone signaling, travel trajectories, and platform bookings record the information on ordinary people’s basic necessities, food, housing, and transportation during the holidays. By superimposing this massive amount of information on a map, a picture of travel consumption during the National Day holiday can be obtained.
From October 2nd to 5th, various scenic spots will welcome peak passenger flow.

Starting from September 25, the light spots representing travel on the map have been lighting up one after another. Broken down by time, from October 2nd to 5th, major scenic spots will usher in peak passenger flow. To be precise, every day, 13:00 to 16:00 is the time when the tourist flow in the scenic spot is the most concentrated.
Combined vacations extend the window and long-term travel increases
The moving lines extending from the map can intuitively reflect a change: people travel further during this holiday, and the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays extend the travel window. China Mobile Wutong data combined with AI intelligent analysis found that long-distance travel of more than 500 kilometers increased by 11% compared with the same period in 2025. The traffic routes from Shanghai to Beijing, Chengdu to Xi’an, Shenzhen to Changsha, and Beijing to Shenyang are active.
Long-term travel drives local consumption, and car rental in other places is popular

Long-distance travel directly drives consumption of local services. In regions such as Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, and Xinjiang, car rental in other places has become a choice for many people for in-depth travel. The average number of daily active users of the car rental app has increased by an average of 43% compared with the same period in 2025. Wherever the pace of travel extends, consumption vitality will be released.
Autumn break for primary and secondary schools to stimulate family fun
In the entire travel consumption picture, family travel is an eye-catching part, and the autumn vacation of primary and secondary schools has spawned a large number of parent-child travel. The number of tourists departing from Hangzhou has increased by 40% compared with 2025, and more than half of them are family tours.
