On September 29, local time, a reporter from the main station learned that King Mohammed VI of Morocco appointed Fatima Zahra Mansouri as the new prime minister on the same day and authorized her to form a new cabinet. Mansouri became the first female head of government in Moroccan history.
Mansouri is the national coordinator of Morocco’s Authenticity and Modernity Party. Morocco’s Interior Minister Rafti announced the preliminary results of the country’s parliamentary election on the 24th. The Authenticity and Modernity Party won 97 of the 395 seats in the House of Representatives, ranking first. According to the Moroccan constitution, the king will appoint the head of government from the party with the most seats in the House of Representatives, who will be responsible for forming a new government.
