The delivery boy who married an American wife after five months of a flash marriage is planning to divorce, saying the reason is cultural differences and there is no fake marriage.

Recently, a food delivery rider in Shenyang, Liaoning, who met his American wife while delivering food, posted a video saying that the two were officially preparing to divorce due to cultural differences and other reasons. In the comment area, many netizens questioned the purpose of his marriage, saying that he married his American wife to get a green card.

On October 23, the client, Mr. Liu, told the Jimu News reporter that he and his wife Hannah truly loved each other, and the divorce was the result of peaceful negotiations between the two parties. “I once thought that love was enough, but I didn’t expect that it couldn’t match the reality in the end.”

Mr. Liu said in the video that he and his American wife are now officially preparing for divorce. In two months, the two will go through the divorce procedures in Fushun, Liaoning. The main reason for the divorce is cultural differences.

On October 23, the reporter contacted Mr. Liu and he said that his wife Hannah had left Northeast China and was currently working as a teacher in Hangzhou. The reason for their divorce is indeed cultural differences. “The main reason is that we don’t understand each other through language. Sometimes we can’t fully understand each other through translation software, and we also have different life and food preferences. For example, I like to eat Northeastern food, and she prefers to eat sweets and pizza.” When they were in love, they thought that as long as there was love, everything could be tolerated, but after getting married, they found that it was not enough.

The reporter noticed that many netizens in the comment area doubted the purpose of his marriage. Some people questioned that he married his American wife to get a green card, while others thought that he married just to get a birth number.

In response to this, Mr. Liu responded that he and Hannah truly loved each other, and there was no false marriage, let alone cheating as some netizens said. “I only graduated from elementary school, and I didn’t know what a green card was when I first got married.” His divorce with Hannah was also the result of peaceful negotiations between the two parties. Both of them hoped that the other could be free. “The result of our discussion was that it would be good for everyone if we left, and we would not delay each other.”

According to previous reports, Mr. Liu and Hannah met on November 6, 2024. At that time, Hannah ordered a bowl of noodles on a takeout platform. Mr. Liu went to her apartment in Hunnan District to deliver food. The two met in the elevator of the apartment. Mr. Liu greeted Hannah and said, “Hello, I love you.” Hannah laughed after hearing this. In January 2025, Mr. Liu plucked up the courage to buy a diamond ring and proposed to Hannah in public at the subway station. “Although we have not known each other for a long time, I feel that she is very kind and she is the person I am looking for.” On March 28, 2025, Mr. Liu and Hannah officially held their wedding in their hometown in Fushun. Although Hannah’s parents in the United States did not attend the scene, they still sent their blessings through video.
