Many companies have announced a 13-day holiday for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day: an additional 3 days of paid leave will not be deducted from annual leave or statutory holidays.

The Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day are approaching. This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday are only three working days apart. Recently, “many colleges and universities are closed for 13 consecutive days” has been a hot search topic, attracting attention. Jiupai News found that in addition to colleges and universities, many companies have also combined the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays for a total of 13 days of paid holidays.

On September 14, the official website of Dongyangguang Group announced that all employees are entitled to 3 days of exclusive welfare leave, which does not deduct annual leave, does not take up statutory holidays, and is paid. They will take 3 days of concentrated leave after the Mid-Autumn Festival and before the National Day, and enjoy 13 consecutive days of super long leave.

According to Metropolis Express, Gujia Furniture, a well-known home furnishing company in Hangzhou, issued a notice that the holiday period is from September 25 to October 7, of which September 28 to 30 are additional paid holidays arranged by the company, which are connected with the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, achieving 13 days of consecutive paid holidays.

The relevant person in charge of Gujia Home Furnishing responded that the holiday notice is true, and the additional three days of paid leave are for the convenience of employees, hoping to give employees more time to take care of their families and better enjoy the holidays.

Jiupai News previously reported that another Hangzhou company, Wanjingxing Food Technology Co., Ltd., also announced 13 consecutive days of paid holidays for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, and would not arrange any replacement days and make-up shifts (including September 20 and October 10).

Mr. Wu, the legal representative of the company, said that since the company has been established for more than two years, every statutory holiday, the number of days off arranged by the company will be more than or equal to the national statutory holidays. This provision is also stated in the employment notice. It said that after the holiday arrangements were announced, “employees have become more accustomed to it.”

He said that employees are relatively efficient at work and can complete tasks ahead of schedule. Taking advantage of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, the company wants everyone to have more rest time.

According to incomplete statistics, companies in Anhui, Guangdong, Beijing, Jiangsu and other places have announced a 13-day holiday for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day.

In recent years, our country’s holiday arrangements have been continuously optimized, and there are more and more off-peak trips. According to China Business News, the “Notice of the General Office of the State Council on Arrangements for Certain Holidays in 2026” proposes to encourage units and individuals to implement systems such as paid annual leave to actually form longer holidays and promote off-peak travel.

In July this year, the State Council officially approved the “15th Five-Year Plan for Expanding Consumption” (hereinafter referred to as the “Plan”). This is my country’s first national-level five-year special plan in the field of consumption. The “Plan” clearly states that a rest and vacation system will be implemented. Comprehensively implement labor laws and effectively protect workers’ legal rights to rest and vacations. Promote the revision of the “Regulations on Paid Annual Leave for Employees”, strictly implement the paid leave system for employees, and enhance the rigidity of system implementation. Encourage units and employees to combine paid annual leave with traditional festivals and local special activities, and arrange flexible off-peak leave. Support localities where conditions permit to promote the spring and autumn holidays for primary and secondary schools.

Some analysts pointed out that flexible and staggered holiday arrangements can not only relieve students’ travel pressure, but also create space for cultural tourism consumption and family reunion. In addition, this year’s vacation formula of “take 3 days off and 13 days off” has also opened up new ideas for many office workers.

From the “3 days off to 13 days” staggered holidays to the consecutive autumn holidays and Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day in some cities, a “super long version of Golden Week” has been created.

On September 14, Tongcheng Travel released the “2026 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Travel Trend Forecast Report” (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”). The “Report” shows that due to the “backward shift” in summer travel demand, bookings for travel products during the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Golden Week started faster than in previous years. As of September 14, the search popularity of keywords such as “Mid-Autumn Festival” and “National Day” on the platform increased by 278% month-on-month, and the popularity of booking air tickets, hotels, car rentals, vacations and other products has increased across the board. Among them, the popularity of air ticket bookings in popular domestic cities increased by more than 40% year-on-year, and the proportion of long-stay hotel bookings of more than 5 days increased by about 7 percentage points compared with the same period last year.

Tongcheng travel data shows that the popularity of air ticket bookings for domestic long-distance routes of more than 1,200 kilometers departing during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays increased by 34% year-on-year.
