WAIC 2026, held July 17–20 in Shanghai, brought together hundreds of exhibitors from across the global AI ecosystem. Among the flood of large language models, autonomous driving systems, and industrial AI platforms, one robot stood out not just for what it could do, but for how independently it could do it.
The Yuanzheng A3 Ultra stands 174 cm tall and is designed for commercial deployment in factories, warehouses, and service environments. What made it a "Treasure of the Hall" was a combination of hardware and software advances that push humanoid robots closer to true autonomous operation.
Key capabilities:
- Autonomous charging: The robot can navigate to a charging station by itself when its battery runs low, then resume work after recharging — enabling true 24/7 continuous operation without human intervention.
- 360° multimodal perception: It integrates a 360° visual and LiDAR fusion perception system, generating semantic maps of its environment in real time.
- 700 TOPS onboard computing: A self-developed three-layer heterogeneous computing architecture delivers 700 trillion operations per second, allowing the robot to decompose tasks, plan paths, and dynamically avoid obstacles in complex environments.
- Production line integration: At the WAIC venue, Zhiyuan demonstrated a live production line where the A3 Ultra performed real assembly tasks, showcasing its readiness for factory deployment.
The selection as a "Treasure of the Hall" places the A3 Ultra alongside other cutting-edge technologies including Sugon's 100,000-card AI supercomputing cluster, Ant Group's cross-embodied AI pharmacy robot, and Baidu's AI companion platform. The recognition signals that embodied AI — robots that can perceive, reason, and act in the physical world — has moved from laboratory curiosity to commercially viable product category.
Zhiyuan Robotics, founded by former Huawei engineer Yao Li, has been scaling production rapidly. The A3 Ultra represents the company's push from research prototypes toward mass-produced humanoid robots that can work alongside humans in real industrial settings.
